Essential Oil and Aroma Oil Manufacturers in India

India distils a wide range of essential oils from crops grown across the country, including mint in Uttar Pradesh, lemongrass and spices in the south, and citronella in the northeast. Blenders also make fragrance and diffuser oils from natural and aroma chemicals.

We help wellness brands, retailers and private-label sellers source oils with the documents they need: GC-MS analysis, safety data sheets and labelling that fits their market.

Indian capabilities in essential and aroma oils

Essential oils are made by steam or hydro-distillation of plant material, with some citrus oils cold-pressed. Quality depends on crop, season and distillation, so batch analysis matters. Fragrance oil houses blend to a brief and can match a reference scent. Filling units pack oils into dropper bottles, roll-ons and diffuser sets for private label.

Grades and specifications to agree

Botanical identity

Latin name, plant part and country of origin for each oil.

Aromatherapy, cosmetic, home fragrance or flavour use; each has different rules.

Private label and custom blends

MOQ and lead-time considerations

Bulk oils are sold by the kilogram, and availability follows harvest seasons. Private-label filling usually needs a minimum per scent and bottle size because of label and packaging runs. Prices of natural oils change with crops, so quotes are valid for short periods.

Compliance and certification

IFRA Standards

Fragrance blends for consumer products are usually checked against IFRA Standards (51st Amendment); brands ask for an IFRA certificate.

Cosmetic use

Oils sold for skin use are cosmetics: the EU Cosmetics Regulation 1223/2009 requires a responsible person and expanded allergen labelling for new products from 31 July 2026; the US regulates cosmetics through the FDA.

Hazard labelling and transport

Many oils are classified under EU CLP and need hazard labels; they are often flammable liquids for transport, so shipping needs dangerous-goods documents.

Packaging and export logistics

Bulk oils ship in lined drums or aluminium bottles; retail units ship in boxed cartons with dividers. Many oils travel as dangerous goods, which affects air freight and courier options, so we plan the shipping method with the forwarder at quotation stage.

International buyer questions

Which essential oils does India produce?

Mint oils, lemongrass, palmarosa, vetiver, citronella, eucalyptus and several spice oils are common Indian oils. Availability depends on season.

How do I know an oil is pure?

Ask for batch GC-MS analysis and compare it with the approved sample. We arrange independent testing when needed.

Can oils be shipped by air?

Many essential oils are flammable liquids and need dangerous-goods handling. Sea freight or specialist air services are used.

Do you provide IFRA certificates?

Fragrance suppliers issue IFRA certificates for their blends. We collect and check them with the other documents.
